Fourth Grade Mondrian Spiders
Mixed media art project. Students will create a Halloween theme of a spider web based on the abstract style of Piet Mondrian was a Dutch abstract painter born in Amersfoort Holland. He painted in a spare, precise, geometric manner mostly using primary colors. It was a style that Mondrian called neoplasticism.
Students will utilize craftsmanship skills by following step by step directions, working with primary colors of red, yellow and blue tempera paint, paper, scissors and glue. Students will also use higher cognitive skills by using elements of art and principles of design including drawing horizontal and vertical lines in pattern and repetition to create geometric shapes on their own to make a mixed media art project. Students will also use higher cognitive skills by using elements of art including line, shape and primary colors by choosing which web sections they want to paint in the Mondrian art style. Students will also learn principles of design including pattern and repetition. |
