First Grade Symmetry Bugs
Mixed media art project. Symmetry is a
mathematical concept and principle in design of balance in art. Symmetry is
dividing an object into two equal parts. Students will use the three primary colors of Red, Yellow and Blue construction paper, cut out symmetrical shapes and combine them together to create a symmetrical bug with eyes and legs.Students will utilize craftsmanship skills working with scissors, crayons and glue to make the body of a symmetrical bug. Students will implement art elements by using primary colors for the body of the bug. Students will also use higher cognitive skills by repeat method of trace, cut and paste to improve memory and motor skills. Students will also apply principles of design by adding patterns and repetition to the bug, time permitting.
